Küsimus pole õigesti asetatud, sest vähendama hakati juba 2011, mis andis vastasele uue võimaluse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withdrawa ... nistan_War
https://twitter.com/EliotHiggins/status ... 6880908289The New York Times reports that the GRU's Unit 29155, which @Bellingcat has reported on in relation to the Skripal attack, the attempted Montenegro coup, and other activity, offered Afghan militants bounties to kill US troops as recently as 2019

https://news.sky.com/story/russia-paid- ... n-12016425Reports that a Russian intelligence unit paid Taliban fighters to kill coalition troops in Afghanistan are true, British security officials have confirmed to Sky News.
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/russian ... d=71495576This is not the first time American forces have bumped up against the Russian military. U.S. Special Forces have even encountered Russian soldiers in Afghanistan in little-known incidents.
American commandos also have often encountered Russian troops in the complicated Syrian battle space, and U.S. fighter intercepts of Russian military aircraft skirting U.S. airspace have been frequent this year.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/30/us/p ... d=tw-shareAmerican officials intercepted electronic data showing large financial transfers from a bank account controlled by Russia’s military intelligence agency to a Taliban-linked account, evidence that supported their conclusion that Russia covertly offered bounties for killing U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan, according to three officials familiar with the intelligence.
Though the United States has accused Russia of providing general support to the Taliban before, analysts concluded from other intelligence that the transfers were most likely part of a bounty program that detainees described during interrogations.
Investigators also identified by name numerous Afghans in a network linked to the suspected Russian operation, the officials said — including, two of them added, a man believed to have served as an intermediary for distributing some of the funds and who is now thought to be in Russia.
The intercepts bolstered the findings gleaned from the interrogations, helping reduce an earlier disagreement among intelligence analysts and agencies over the reliability of the detainees. The disclosures further undercut White House officials’ claim that the intelligence was too uncertain to brief President Trump. In fact, the information was provided to him in his daily written brief in late February, two officials have said.
Afghan officials this week described a sequence of events that dovetailed with the account of the intelligence. They said that several businessmen who transfer money through the informal “hawala” system were arrested in Afghanistan over the past six months and were suspected of being part of a ring of middlemen who operated between the Russian intelligence agency, known as the G.R.U., and Taliban-linked militants. The businessmen were arrested in what the officials described as sweeping raids in the north of Afghanistan as well as in Kabul.
A half-million dollars was seized from the home of one of the men, added a provincial official. The New York Times had previously reported that the recovery of an unusually large amount of cash in a raid was an early piece in the puzzle that investigators put together.
https://apnews.com/6811164e83a08d9160b82c9566221d6cPresident Donald Trump on Wednesday dismissed as “Fake News” allegations that Russia offered bounties for killing American troops in Afghanistan. He said news stories about the allegations were made up to “damage me and the Republican Party.”
Lawmakers have been demanding answers over the allegations, and Democrats have accused Trump of bowing to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the risk of U.S. soldiers’ lives.
Trump tweeted Wednesday that he had not been briefed on intelligence assessments that Russia offered bounties because there wasn’t corroborating evidence. Those intelligence assessments were first reported by The New York Times, then confirmed to The Associated Press by American intelligence officials and others with knowledge of the matter.
“The Russia Bounty story is just another made up by Fake News tale that is told only to damage me and the Republican Party,” Trump tweeted. “The secret source probably does not even exist, just like the story itself.”
https://twitter.com/IntelDoge/status/12 ... 1140408322NYT states they've identified an Afghan contractor named Rahmatullah Azizi, who delivered Russian cash from the GRU to the Taliban to target US troops. Info suggests $100,000 per soldier were offered for US/coalition targets.
About 6 months ago, security agencies conducted raids to arrest dozens of Azizi's family members and associates, but had discovered that he had fled Afghanistan, likely back to Russia. They discovered half a million dollars in cash in his home, per NYT.
