Poola saadeti USA poolt Saksamaal asuvast baasist mõneks ajaks juurde viis F-22 Raptor lennukit.

The U.S. Air Force has forward deployed five F-22 Raptors, approximately 40 Airmen and associated equipment from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, to Powidz AB, Poland, for theater familiarization and to conduct interoperability training with Polish and NATO aircraft.

The F-22s are deployed to Europe from the 95th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, and arrived in Europe on Aug. 8.

ORLAND AIR BASE, Norway (Reuters) - Two U.S. F-22 stealth fighter jets squared off in simulated dogfights with two of Norway’s expanding fleet of F-35 aircraft on Wednesday as part of an exercise aimed at strengthening the NATO alliance and increasing its deterrent power.

The two U.S. F-22s are among 13 in Europe for a series of short-term deployments in places such as Greece and Poland, with further training missions planned in undisclosed locations in coming days.

The Norwegian deployment lasted just one day but will lay the groundwork for NATO allies as they work to integrate their stealth warfare capabilities, Colonel Leslie Hauck, chief of the fifth generation integration division at the U.S. Air Force’s headquarters in Europe, told reporters in Norway.

The deployment is part of U.S. efforts to reassure European allies after Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Growing numbers of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35s are arriving in Europe as the world’s most advanced warplane and most expensive weapons program matures following a raft of cost increases and technical challenges in its early years.

“Every training opportunity that we have betters our readiness for any potential adversary of the future,” Hauck said at the Orland air base, already home to six of Norway’s expected 52 F-35s.

Hauck leads a new office at Ramstein Air Base in southwestern Germany, that is working to ensure a smooth transition for some 40 F-35s due to be on site in Europe by year end. The first U.S. F-35s are set to arrive in 2021.

Next month, a group of senior officials from the United States and seven other F-35 operator countries - Norway, Denmark, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Britain and the Netherlands - will meet to compare notes on the new warplane, which was first used in combat by Israel in May.

The United States already has more than 150 of the aircraft, whose sensors pilots say give them the most extensive overview about a battlefield of any combat jet available.

Norwegian Air Force Major Morten Hanche, who piloted one of the Norwegian F-35s, said the mock fight with the F-22s was great practice, especially since the F-35s generally surprise and overpower other non-stealthy aircraft.

He declined to name the winning aircraft, saying only: “The F-22 is a very formidable opponent.”

Precision-guided munitions, long in short supply among some NATO members, are being stockpiled in Europe in a move designed to reduce dependence on the U.S. in a crisis.

Belgium and Denmark will receive the first deliveries of the U.S.-made air-to-ground weaponry acquired for about $20 million, NATO said in a statement Wednesday.

Eleven allies and one partner nation — Finland — are involved in the project, which is designed to be a more cost-effective way for members to increase their stockpiles.

“Working through this NATO initiative, rather than individually, allows Allies to draw upon each other’s PGM stocks in case of need: during air operations or in a possible crisis,” NATO said in a statement. “This will also help NATO and allies to reduce dependence on the U.S. for air missions.”

The 11 NATO members involved in the effort are Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. It was the first direct U.S. sale to NATO’s Support and Procurement Agency, which will distribute the weapons to participating states and allow partner nations to pool their resources.

The alliance statement did not specify which types of munitions were delivered in the first batch. But the original order, estimated at $231 million, included JDAM bomb kits, DSU-38/B sensors for use with laser guidance, elements of the GBU-12 and GBU-49 bomb units and other gear.

Antud aeroplaan on siiski loodud atmosfääris lenduvaid radioaktiivseid osakesi avastama, mingeid tuumaallveelaeva jälgi või Iskanderite lõhkepäid see ei loe. Tegemist võis olla rutiinse treeninglennuga (meeskondi treenitakse eri kohtades), kui tõsi on taga, siis sellega avastatakse atmosfääris toimunud tuumaplahvatusi või radioaktiivseid lekkeid (nagu Tsenobõl). Sõjaline termin oleks "strateegiline radiatsiooniluurelennuk". Selle peamine eesmärk on võttes reaalajalisi õhuproove suurtel aladel, avastada märke tuumarelva kasutamisest.

Üldiselt sellised asjad pole hea märk. Väike ime, et see "viimsepäevakell" on praegu samas asendis, kui Kuuba raketikriisi ajal, kui taolisi uudiseid pidevalt tuleb. Viimane oli mõni aeg tagasi tuumarelva-tüüpilise kindlustatud hoidla ehitusest Kaliningradis. Veel natuke aega varem tellis Rootsi valitsus Gotlandil tsiviilkaitsevarjendite kontrollimise. Jne.

Macroni üleskutse leiab tõenäoliselt toetust Berliinist, Saksa välisminister Heiko Maas esines samasuguse üleskutsega sõjalise koostöö suurendamiseks eelmisel nädalal. Maas kutsus ajalehes Handelsblatt ilmunud artiklis Euroopat "jagama võrdselt vastutust" ning "moodustama Euroopa-USA suhete jahenedes "Washingtonile vastukaalu".

Aga kaitsekulusid märkimisväärselt suurendada Saksa poliitikute enamus ei soovi. Saksamaa kaitseminister on rääkinud, et nad planeerivad kaitsekulude osas saavutada 1,5% taseme SKP-st aastaks 2025. Praegu moodustavad kaitsekulud 1,1-1,2% SKP-st.

Seega see Macroni uus "julgeolekusüsteem" tundub järjekordne tühi jutt olevat.

See hädine 0,4% SKP-st on Saksamaa näitel 15 MILJARDIT eurot. 1500 Leopard 2 MBT-d aastas, kui peaks selline kulutamissoov olema. Putin poksib segases maailmas üle oma kaalu, aga strateegiline jõudude tugevus on armutult selle väikese diktatuuri kahjuks.

According to German analysts, with the planned funding at the level of 41-42 billion euros by 2022, the negative trend in the Bundeswehr will not be reversed. The slight increase in the defence budget will be consumed by inflation (approximately 0.5 billion euros a year) and by the planned increase in the number of troops, and hence for their salaries. The expenditure on investments in arms and military equipment is therefore projected to fall rather than grow, which will lead to delays in the implementation of the planned armament programmes.
