48 rüg. hukkumine Repnikus
26 juulil Narva alt taandumisel hukkus Nederlandi 48 rügement Repniku küla lähedal.Põhjuseks peetakse taandumiseks valitud vale teed ja venitamist.
Kas on keegi kohanud pealtnägija mälestusi/põhjalikumat uurimust sellest juhtumist?
Kas on keegi kohanud pealtnägija mälestusi/põhjalikumat uurimust sellest juhtumist?

"While the Red Army launched its next attack on Narva on July the 24th, plans were made to withdraw 'Nederland' back to the Tannenbergstellung. Five days later the Brigade 'Nederland' was quietly leaving the 'Festung' Narva. The 48.Regiment 'General Seyffardt' was ordered to cover the withdrawal of the rest of the SS-Brigade. 'General Seyffardt' would withdraw as soon as every other unit had left Narva. Outide Narva the Regiment should meet with the rest of the Brigade, but 'General Seyffardt' would never see the Brigade again due to a colossal mistake by its officers. While the Brigade was waiting for the unlucky Regiment outside Narva, 48.Rgt.'General Seyffardt' went another way which had not been prearranged. They were discovered by the Red Airforce, leading to a complete massacre. Almost the complete Regiment 'General Seyffardt' was destroyed in the wooded and marshy area of Narva. Attacks from both the ground and the air wiped out most of the SS-volunteers and the surviving SS-men were hunted down for days in the marshes. Only a few men under command of SS-Untersturmführer Nieuwendijk-Hoek reached the Tannenbergstellung. The Brigade had lost one of the two Infantry Regiments and the 48.Regiment 'General Seyffardt' was going to have to be rebuilt in Schlochau."

Nederlan
Mäletavasti üks neist ellujäänuist Nederlandi meestest esineb ka filmis "Surnupealuu sõdurid" väikese repliigiga, meenutaes sama sündmust.

"General Seyffardt"
Dear forum members,
I was told about this forum by a friend of mine and now I want to introduce myself. Since several years I am researching the role of the Dutch volunteers on the Narwa-Brückenkopf, and one important part of this research is the annihilation of the 48. Regiment “General Seyffardt”, during its retreat from Narva, at the end of July 1944.
I have contact with several survivors and do possess a lot of documents and information about this retreat. In the end, I want to publish a book about this event, and it is therefore that every bit of information is most welcome. Can someone give me a summary of what is already said in the above postings? Perhaps I can be of help after I have understood what is asked and what is already said. I will be glad to contribute as much as possible.
With all the best,
Cees Kleijn

P.S. As far as I know, it is not true that they were discovered by the Red Airforce.

Raamat..
Dear Cees Kleijn,

hi!
could you post short review about this regiments retreat?
im sure, that this subject interrests lot more people than myself. A few years ago, when i finished highschool, i did a researchwork for my history class about battles in Narva, and all that i could found about 48th regiments retreat, was that what general Steiner wrote in his memoirs and all the later published books seems to cite his quotes.
T.B. beer.

No problem at all, although quite a few things remain, until now, hypothetical. I have contact with several survivors and their statements about the retreat are, at some points, contradictory. Nevertheless, I will make a short résumé about the retreat in the near future and get back to you as soon as time permits.
