Kohaliku aja järgi eile pärastlõunal alanud tohutu elektrikatkestus puudutas 19 miljoni elanikuga Lõuna-Ameerika riigis kaheksat miljonit majapidamist, teatasid ametnikud. Elekter puudus Aricast põhjas, kus asub palju vasekaevandusi, kuni Los Lagoseni lõunas. Pealinnas Santiagos ei töötanud valgusfoorid, inimesed jäid lifti kinni ja peatus metroo, vahendab New York Times.
Keskööks oli elektrivarustus taastatud 90 protsendi elumajade jaoks. Kõigile lubati elektrit taas päikesetõusuks.
Valitsus kuulutas elektrikatkestuse piirkonnas välja liikumiskeelu kella 22-st 6-ni.
President Boric süüdistas elektrikatkestuses riigi elektriettevõtteid.

“A new war on the horizon: the US is deploying troops to Venezuela
Seven warships, an attack submarine, and more than 6,500 US soldiers and marines have already arrived off the country's coast. Officially, Washington states: "the fight against drug cartels." But experts are convinced this is just a cover for exerting force and a possible overthrow of Nicolás Maduro.
The President of Venezuela has already raised the army on alert and is preparing the country for defense. Tension is growing by the minute: the region could become the scene of a new military confrontation.”
Lake Erie joins the growing U.S. naval presence in the Caribbean, which now includes at least 7 other ships. The SOUTHCOM fleet represents approximately 12% of total U.S. Navy ships currently deployed.

The U.S. Navy will host this year's UNITAS featuring approximately 8,000 personnel from 25 allied and partner nations, including multiple ships, submarines, and aircraft (fixed wing and rotary). Forces will conduct operations off the East Coast of the United States and ashore in the vicinity of Naval Station Mayport, Fla., Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Naval Station Norfolk, Va. through October 6.
UNITAS, which is Latin for unity, united, or oneness, was conceived in 1959 when representatives at the first Inter-American Naval Conference in Panama agreed to conduct an annual maritime exercise with one another. The first UNITAS took place in 1960 with forces from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, the United States, and Venezuela. This year marks the 66th iteration of the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise.
Including the United States, UNITAS 2025 will bring together 26 nations from all over the world to train forces in joint maritime operations that enhance tactical proficiency and increase interoperability. Participating nations include Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Jamaica, Japan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Singapore, Spain, and the United States

The U.S. has moved a fourth guided-missile destroyer into the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility. With the arrival of USS Stockdale (DDG 106) in Panama yesterday, at least 10 U.S. Navy warships (approx. 13% of ships currently deployed) are now on station in the region.

The buildup at former NAS Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, is accelerating
New imagery (Sept 23) confirms 8x F-35s, plus a USMC air component: 2x MV-22 Ospreys, 3x AH-1Z Vipers, and 1x KC-130 (caveats apply given 1m resolution, but fairly confident in the IDs)
Expert feedback on rotary and tilt-rotor IDs always appreciated
This is more than just a fighter deployment; this looks more like a full-spectrum force establishing forward presence.
