The Department of Defense has announced that over 1,000 Soldiers with the U.S. Army’s 7th Expeditionary Transportation Brigade out of Fort Eustis in Norfolk, Virginia will Participate in the Construction of a Temporary Floating-Pier that will be Anchored off the Coast of the Gaza Strip and will be Built utilizing Joint Logistics-Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) Elements from the U.S. Army and Navy, with the Pier expected to take Two Weeks to Construct and eventually providing over 2 Million Meals a Day; they further state that the Operation is now underway with Forces currently preparing to Deploy, but that it will not require “Boots on the Ground” in the Gaza Strip with U.S. Ground Troops only involved in Anchoring the Pier.

New details from DOD on the Gaza maritime corridor emergency mission:

- Over 1,000 U.S. military personnel
- Weeks to plan & execute (~60 days)
- U.S. Army 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) from VA tasked
- "Maintains the ability to provide unique capabilities from offshore without a U.S. military presence within Gaza"
- U.S. Navy will not play a role because it doesn't require "combat capability"
- Working with Military Sealift Command & logistics support vessels (LSV) involved; multiple ships "from across the world will come together"
- JLOTS (joint logistics over the shore) operation confirmed; employed last year in Ex Talisman Sabre in Australia
- Aid will be loaded from Cyprus ➙ floating pier ➙ LSVs (or barge) ➙ causeway ➙ ashore ➙ partners ➙ Gaza
- Working with like-minded countries & partners, who will provide security & assistance on the ground
- Sending out prepare to deploy orders (in process)
- Provide up to 2 million meals/day
- Under CENTCOM command

Sweden announces it’s resuming its funding of UNRWA after having received “written guarantees” from the UN body saying that the Swedish money won’t be used for terror.

Sweden will donate USD 40 million for UNRWA this year.
