Swiss army colonel working for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna was in fact working for the Russians.

A Swiss army colonel has been recalled from abroad after being accused of passing on information to Russia in summer 2024, according to Swiss public broadcaster, SRF.

The man at the centre of the affair is a colonel who has worked for the defence ministry for over 20 years, most recently holding various important posts abroad. Until mid-2024, he worked at the Swiss representation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), based in Vienna.

However, for more than six months now, the man has been back in Switzerland – involuntarily. Several people told SRF Investigativ that he was suspended after being suspected of having passed on information to Russia in summer 2024.

Upon request, the defence ministry confirmed that it was “aware of allegations as to why the employee in question was recalled to Switzerland at the end of 2024”.

Dutch police have confirmed the fire that disrupted train traffic to and from Schiphol Airport on June 24 the opening day of the NATO summit was a deliberate act of sabotage. Forensic investigators found accelerants were used to set fire to critical railway cables near Amsterdam Nieuw-West.

Investigators believe the sabotage occurred between 2:51 a.m. and 3:21 a.m. near the railway viaduct over Oeverlandenweg in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. The act caused major rail disruption on the NATO summit’s first day.

Police are calling on three cyclists and a taxi driver with a passenger, all seen in the area around 3:00–3:30 a.m., to come forward. They may be key witnesses in the arson investigation. No arrests have been made so far.

Police say there's no indication that a specific country was behind the railway fire that disrupted train traffic in the Netherlands on NATO summit day. However, investigators do believe the act was intentional most likely aimed at causing disruption to rail services during the high-level event.

Italian officials were warned of possible Russian sabotage at Aviano air base, which hosts US forces and stores nuclear weapons. A female suspect was stopped after allegedly photographing the site. Arson attacks were also reported nearby. An investigation is underway and the PM has been briefed.

Aviano Air Base, is under Italian ownership and control but hosts the U.S. Air Force’s 31st Fighter Wing. The base is one of six in Europe involved in NATO nuclear sharing, storing B61 bombs in secure underground facilities.

Arson in Italy isn’t unheard of for my knowledge and there have even been a few rare cases around Aviano as well but it’s still uncommon overall, and this incident may not be directly related to the base or the current issue.

According to Rai News, a security alert was issued days ago about a potential threat to Aviano Air Base. The woman arrested near the base is part of the No Base movement, which opposes military installations. In response, authorities have increased security measures, deploying special units to the site. Firefighters confirmed they have not responded to any recent fires near the base. An investigation is ongoing.

Suspected drone carrier / cargo ship HAV DOLPHIN was raided by Finnish border and customs agents as it arrived to Vasaa port today.

Cargo ship HAV DOLPHIN, suspected of being a clan destine drone carrier collecting intel on NATO, recently raided for a 3rd time (never any proofs) has let their anchor down a few km from the large NATO exercise NOCO2025 and 10 warship.

The Northern Coasts (NOCO) naval exercise is now underway. The exercise is one of the largest conducted in the Baltic Sea region and has been organized annually since 2007. This year's exercise is led and coordinated by the German Navy and is conducted within the framework of QUADRIGA 2025. The naval component takes place in the southern Baltic Sea between 29 August and 12 September.

In addition to Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, France, the UK, the US, Belgium, the Netherlands and Canada are participating. Northern Coasts demonstrates the countries' will be shared to protect the important Baltic Sea region.

Several cable cabinets with fiber cables were sabotaged on Tuesday evening in Eskilstuna municipality. Almost 2,000 customers were affected in Eskilstuna and Kvicksund, and several health centers in Strängnäs.

– It is serious, says Magnus Nordberg, business area manager for the city network at Eskilstuna Energy and Environment.

The disruption affected both internet and TV services, as well as the 5G and 4G networks. By Friday, all customers in Eskilstuna had their internet restored. The health centres in Strängnäs are still affected, according to Region Sörmland.

Tomas Jonsson, unit manager for the ambulance in Eskilstuna and Strängnäs, says that the internet problems in Strängnäs do not pose a risk to patients.

– We have mobile solutions and can help each other, so the ambulance is safe, he says.

According to the Sörmland region, it is difficult to get to the public dental care center, the Mariefred health center, the Mälarlunden health center, the Mäster Olof health center and the Strängnäs health center.
Not the first time

The sabotage occurred against several lockers at around 10 pm on Tuesday evening.

– This is not the first time this has happened, unfortunately. It has happened on several occasions during the year, says Magnus Nordberg.

The police cordoned off the sites of the sabotage. On Wednesday morning, Eskilstuna Energy and Environment was given access to the facilities to make repairs.

Magnus Nordberg does not want to reveal exactly how many locations there are or where the lockers are located, as it is sensitive information that could be harmful to society.
Police silenced

The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency, which is responsible for monitoring electronic communications in Sweden, states that they are following the incident.

– For us, it is primarily about seeing what consequences it has had in terms of opportunities to communicate, says Petter Öhrn, press officer at the authority.

However, the authority has no operational role and does not investigate the background.

The police are being secretive, citing the confidentiality of preliminary investigations, but state that five police reports have been filed.

There are some quite striking antenna similarities between the vessels used by Russia in the war in Black Sea and the vessels totally peacefully patrolling (and jamming) in the waters between Denmark and Germany.
