SWCC Training is more technical and mechanical. The physical phase is only half as long as BUD/S. You wont hear much about SWCCs CCC. Half of it, the technical/mechanical side is highly classified. Everything to do with the Radios, Sensors and Engineering systems is Classified or better.
Its a little different now, then when I came into it. Before you had to TDY from the Fleet or whatever unit you were in, as a E-4 or E-5(though not likely). You had a 6 month probationary period to work up with a non deployed Det. After that if they had to decide if they wanted to bring you into an Open Loop Billet, about a 50/50 shot. After that you were in it for 3 years, then you applied for Closed Loop or Permanent Status and either stayed for good or went back to the fleet. You didnt go to School until you were given an Open Loop Billet. The school then was broken into what your pre-existing specialty was. If you were an Engineer Rate, you were going to be an Engineer/Aft Crewman. If you were a non technical Seaman Rate you were going Bowhook/Forward Crewman. Those 2 groups then moved up to the Coxswain/POIC role.
Now its more all around from the get go. Everyone learns Engineering on the same level. You always had it but, now it more in depth from the beginning. It was the Transition period to what it is now. So now there is no Open/Close Loop. You go in and youre in thats it.
Swimming is going be the core. You have to be a strong swimmer. There wont be any diving like with the SEALs but, you will learn to use fins and snorkel. Boat Handling, as in the IBL, will be all you touch at first. It will look almost identical to BUD/s in the First Phase, with Surf Immersion, Log PT and Boat Handling. SWCC Classes will take them out allot further though and learn about the Currents and do 10 times the amount of Rock Landings as the SEALs.
Once you get done with the First Phase, you get into the Trainer Boats and learn how to handle Single Screw Small Craft. You start learning Navigation and Basic Engineering. Near the end they get you into a little bit of Crew Served Weapons, Small Arms and Real Platforms. Lots of Classroom time.
The final part is mostly in the Boats or in the Desert. You learn the basics of all 3 of the main Platforms, MKv, 11mRhib, SOCR. You learn damage control. This is also where you learn all the High Tech Secret stuff. Then you get into Live Fire with .50s, Twin .50s, Miniguns, MK19s, M240B, MK43/46. You learn to shoot them and maintain them. Several guys in each class will learn to be Armorers at a later date. Then you go into the Desert to work with the M4 and P226.
Right after that you will go to NSWs Parachute Course. Then to 1 of 3 SBTs, on 1 of 3 Platforms. Once you get there you will have 18 months training on Specific Platform stuff.

Muuseas, brittide SBS on viimased aastad tegutsenud jõuliselt Afghanistanis, kuigi merd seal üldse ei ole.
